11" x 14" sheet from a Frank Leslie's Newspaper from Jan 7th, 1865 , folded in half to highlight the woodblock engraved view of the launching of an US Ship Camanche, A monitor class vessel, it was one of only two on the pacific for its tenure, described as follows from Wikipedia:
USS Camanche was prefabricated in Jersey City, NJ by Donahue, Ryan and Secor for the sum of $613,164.98. She was disassembled and shipped around South America in the sailing ship Aquila to San Francisco, Ca. and arrived in San Francisco on 10 November 1863, but sank at her wharf in 30 feet of water four days later as a result of storm damage and a collision with another ship.The monitor's parts were salvaged and assembled and she was launched on 14 November 1864. Camanche was commissioned in May 1865, Lt. Commander Charles J. McDougal in command.
