Tehama County 35" x 48" , Large folding map, outlined with Blue-Green and Yellow hand water color applied in outline to a lithographic map made by the Punnett Brothers and distributed by CF Weber as sole agent . These proprietary compilations were created from 1895 to 1922 by Ernest & John Punnettt through the researching of annual surveys produced by the 58 county surveyors in the state. Expert and licensed surveyors themselves , their experience foresaw the contemporary need for inclusion of riparian data like Irrigation Projects and Reclamation Districts , Competing Gas, Power and Light Companies, Wagon Roads & Trails and Steam & Electric Railroads, in addition to the California Rancho boundaries excluded from the Township and Range Grid oriented off Mount Diablo and so influential in California real estate in this period . Accurate and detailed, informative and advanced, these reconstruction maps were part of the rebuilding of San Francisco and California after the 1906 EQ and fire . Punnett Brothers relocated their draftsmen offices more 6 times in 7 years as locations became available from 1907-1914 in and around San Francisco, but they continued to produced maps every year until ending their work around 1922. Many maps produced by CF Weber & the Punnett Brothers were intended for linen backing, others were not, but all Our Examples come from our 2018 wholesale purchase from John P Coll, who in turn had purchased these maps from WS Hutchinson, Linen backers of folding and wall maps on Army St. in San Francisco since 1907 when they sold out and closed their doors in Nov. 1970 . These maps had been bought by WS Hutchinson from CF Weber when they sold out and closed their doors in 1919-20 and had been in WS Hutchinson inventory as unbacked maps , New Stock never linen backed and kept in safe archive until needed. Issues of these maps which have the Blue Printed CF Weber hard cover from 1914 are complete issues from this purchase that were never intended to be linen backed and as such are not. Condition on these maps is Very Fine, pristine , some with an acid burn on inside cover panel to the outside, non visible part of the back of the map.
